Our lecture series offers an engaging and thought-provoking exploration of Jewish history and contemporary issues. The lectures combine meticulous historical research with compelling storytelling. They explore the history and legacy of Terezín, the Holocaust in Bohemia and Moravia, the preservation of Czech Jewish heritage, the resilience and creativity of individuals during persecution, and the continuing challenge of antisemitism in today’s world. Each presentation is tailored to its audience — whether an academic group, a congregation, a professional conference, or the general public — and may take the form of a keynote address, a multimedia presentation, or a moderated discussion. The lectures aim to inform, engage, and inspire reflection, offering both historical depth and human connection.

Batel Institute organizes specialized educational excursions to Terezín and the Jewish Quarter of Prague, designed to connect historical research with lived spaces of memory.
Our Terezín programs explore the ghetto not only as a site of suffering, but also as a complex instrument of Nazi propaganda and deception. Drawing on long-term archival research, we contextualize the historical reality behind the carefully constructed “model ghetto” narrative and examine its lasting impact on Holocaust memory.
